Teachers’ Awareness of and Disposition to Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition in Public SeniorSecondary Schools in Ekiti State, Nigeria

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate teacher awareness of and disposition to CIRCS in public SSS in Ekiti State, Nigeria. The mixed methods (QUAN+qual) design was adopted. The participants were 30 teachers of English Language selected from 30 public schools in Ekiti State. The instruments used were Awareness of CIRCS (r=0.79) and Disposition to CIRCS (r=0.81) questionnaires. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics. Findings revealed that teachers’ awareness of CIRCS (x = 2.81) was high, against the threshold of 2.00. Teachers’ disposition to CIRCS (x = 2.94) was favourable, against the thresholds of 2.50. Based on the findings it was recommended that teachers in public Senior secondary schools in Ekiti State teachers’ awareness o and improve their disposition to this strategy.
