The study determined the Social Studies lecturers’ resource utilization level in colleges of education in Osun State, Nigeria; and examined the pre-service teachers’ skills acquisition level in the study area. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The participants were 40 Social Studies lecturers and 160 preservice teachers in colleges of education in Osun State, Nigeria. The instrument used was Social Studies Lecturers’ Resources Utilization Scale (r=0.78) was used for data collection. Data collected were analysed using frequency counts, percentages, relative significant index (RSI), and ranks. It was found that the Social Studies lecturers’ resource utilization level was high at 57.5% in colleges of education in Osun State, Nigeria. Also, the pre-service teachers’ skills acquisition level was high at 55.0%. In conclusion, Social Studies lecturers’ resource utilization level and the pre-service teachers’ skills acquisition level were high in colleges of education in Osun State, Nigeria. Based on the findings, it is recommended that lecturers of social studies should access variety of community resources at their disposal in order to facilitate successful teaching and learning in the 21st century
