This study was designed to examine the democratization of school prefects in selected public and private secondary schools in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo state. The research design employed is survey design. A total of two hundred (200) respondents participated in the study. The instrument used was a self designed questionnaire(r= 0.86). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings of this study revealed that the mode of selection of school prefects had influence on students’ behaviour. It was recommended among other things that students’ body should be allowed to elect prefects democratically, that the process should be free and fair to avoid any disruption of academic work due that might arise from the feeling of being shortchanged, if the process is not free and fair.
